The Hamburg-based food tech start-up goodBytz develops fully automated robot kitchens that provide freshly prepared meals around the clock. Through a strategic partnership with avitea Industrieservice, an industrial service provider specializing in logistics, facility, and production services, the company is now tapping into the German SME market.
Together, the two companies want to automate employee catering in industrial companies and continuously supply production sites with fresh, healthy meals. “With avitea Industrieservice, we have gained a partner that has been supporting industrial SMEs for decades and has direct access to production facilities with large supply requirements,” says Dr. Hendrik Susemihl, CEO and co-founder of goodBytz.
“Together, we are combining our technology with avitea's market access and operational experience. This creates a partnership that enables the widespread use of automated catering solutions in industrial SMEs and strengthens companies in the competition for skilled workers.”
New opportunities for German SMEs The partnership opens up a new market segment for goodBytz: many production companies operate a three-shift system and are reaching their limits when it comes to supplying their employees. The combination of avitea's market access and goodBytz's technological expertise is set to close this gap in the future. This opens up enormous opportunities, especially for German SMEs – the potential lies in over 10,000 possible installations.
Operating concept As an operations partner, avitea will operate robot kitchens directly at its customers' premises in the future. This will enable companies to offer their employees healthy, predictable, varied, and always fresh cuisine at any time of the day or night – without the need for their own kitchen staff and with convenient pre-ordering. “The goodBytz concept convinced us immediately,” adds Markus Humpert, Managing Director of avitea Industrieservice.
“Especially where operating a canteen is not economically viable or there is a shortage of staff, we can work together to fill a real gap. The quality of the dishes is excellent, the approach innovative. As a service provider and flexibility partner for industrial customers, we can work with goodBytz to offer an innovative solution for the daily challenges faced by precisely these businesses.”
Robotics bridges the gap between industry and everyday life Nils Tersteegen, Head of Marketing at FANUC Deutschland GmbH, says: "At FANUC, we are delighted to see our proven industrial robotics becoming increasingly integrated into people's everyday lives. goodBytz bridges the gap between industry and everyday life and shows how robotics can create real added value for employees. Many avitea customers already rely on FANUC robots in production. If one of these robots prepares their lunch for them in the future, it will be a particularly nice way to come full circle. Automation can already be used today to effectively counteract the shortage of skilled workers in industry.
If robots also provide support in the kitchen in the future, this will demonstrate the potential that this technology still has to offer." The next step is to implement the concept in a hotel environment in order to refine the operating concept and show customers the added value of the solution. Market expansion will then continue with other industrial companies. Through its cooperation with avitea, goodBytz aims to make catering an integral part of modern industrial processes.
The automated robot kitchens demonstrate how efficiency, health, and employer attractiveness can be combined in the industrial working world.
