goodBytz Brings Autonomous Kitchen Technology to Frankfurt Airport: Poppy’s Launches in Terminal 1
Together with travel foodservice company Casualfood and landlord Fraport, goodBytz is launching a new food concept at Germany’s largest airport. Under the name Poppy’s, travelers will be able to enjoy freshly prepared meals from an autonomous robotic kitchen. The concept will initially be tested at two locations in Terminal 1.
Hamburg/Frankfurt am Main, October 2, 2026 – Freshly prepared food, available exactly when travelers need it: Hamburg-based food-tech company goodBytz is bringing its autonomous kitchen robotics to Frankfurt Airport. Together with travel foodservice company Casualfood as the on-site operator and Fraport AG as the landlord, goodBytz is launching the new Poppy’s food concept at two locations in Terminal 1.
The first location will open in the public area of Terminal 1, Arrivals A. A second Poppy’s location is planned for the airside area of Terminal 1. With these two locations, the partners will test the concept under different conditions along the passenger journey.
At the heart of Poppy’s is an autonomous kitchen by goodBytz that prepares meals fresh on site. The technology handles key processes from preparation to serving, making it possible to provide consistent quality and fast availability even in high-traffic locations.
Fresh food where speed and availability matter
Airports place unique demands on foodservice concepts: passenger volumes and demand fluctuate throughout the day, time windows are often short, while travelers still expect a wide selection and high quality. Autonomous kitchens can create new possibilities in exactly these environments.
“An airport is one of the most exciting environments for autonomous kitchen robotics. High passenger volumes, different times of day and the need for fast availability all come together here. With Poppy’s, we want to demonstrate together with Casualfood how freshly prepared food and automation can work hand in hand at an international transport hub,” says Dr. Hendrik Susemihl, Co-Founder and CEO of goodBytz.
Poppy’s: eat well. repeat.
Poppy’s deliberately translates the technology into an accessible food concept. Rather than putting the robotics front and center, the aim is to create a place where travelers can easily pick up something fresh to eat.
The name reflects exactly this idea: Poppy’s sounds like a place you would naturally visit – “at Poppy’s” – while giving the autonomous kitchen its own personality. Under the tagline “eat well. repeat.”, the concept is designed to fit naturally into different moments of the travel journey: before departure, between appointments, during a longer wait or after landing.
The goal is to create a foodservice offering that is fast and reliable while providing freshly prepared meals.
Two locations to test the concept
With the two locations in Terminal 1, goodBytz, Casualfood and Fraport aim to gain insights from different areas of the airport. While the first Poppy’s location will be situated in Arrivals A, the second location will be located beyond the security checkpoint.
The insights gained will help demonstrate how autonomous kitchen concepts can be deployed in high-traffic travel environments and what travelers expect from new foodservice offerings.
