Hamburg startup goodBytz wins U.S. Army as first major customer for robotic kitchen container
Hamburg. Hamburg based food tech startup goodBytz is entering the defense sector with a flagship project for the U.S. Army. For the first time, a fully autonomous robotic kitchen is set to be deployed for military purposes. The first installation will launch later this year at a U.S. base in South Korea. A second system will follow in spring 2026.

“Working with the U.S. Army marks the start of a bigger vision. We want to fundamentally transform nutrition in defense scenarios. Our goal is to provide soldiers worldwide with fresh meals around the clock regardless of location, time, and personnel availability,” says Dr. Hendrik Susemihl, CEO and co founder of goodBytz.
For goodBytz, the deal marks entry into a new market segment. It is the company’s first contract with the world’s largest defense customer and, at the same time, its first delivery to a NATO partner. Against the backdrop of growing geopolitical tensions, this brings supply technology into focus that emphasizes scalability and autonomy.
With the second delivery in spring 2026, the startup will also introduce its newly developed 20 foot container solution. It is designed for missions in remote regions where traditional supply structures reach their limits. Based on experience with customers in Germany and Austria, the solution guarantees maximum reliability even under extreme conditions.
“We are proud to take this first step with the U.S. Army. This success proves that goodBytz is ready to serve the most demanding customers worldwide at the highest level and marks the beginning of our expansion beyond Europe,” Susemihl adds.
The technology not only opens up new perspectives in the defense sector, but also in many other fields, from event catering and humanitarian operations to supplying remote industrial sites. This enables goodBytz to tap into an entirely new market segment and deliver a scalable solution for high quality catering at large scale.
