The autonomous robot kitchen by goodBytz was officially put into operation today at the U.S. Army base Camp Walker in Daegu, South Korea. With this, the Hamburg-based food-tech company is entering the operational phase of its largest project to date and will from now on provide soldiers on site with freshly cooked meals.

“With this step, we are leaving Europe for the first time and entering the global market,” says Dr. Hendrik Susemihl, CEO and co-founder of goodBytz. “The U.S. Army is our first major international client and represents enormous market potential. The fact that the entire system could be delivered and put into operation just a few weeks after the official contract award shows how powerful our technology already is today.”

The deployment at Camp Walker is part of a strategic U.S. Army initiative to modernize food service in critical infrastructure. The goodBytz robot kitchen operates fully autonomously and prepares fresh dishes around the clock. With this successful launch, goodBytz is paving the way for the next milestone: the next deployment will follow as early as the beginning of 2026.

“This opening shows that our technology and our team are ready for international deployments on a large scale,” says Susemihl. “The U.S. Army is our first major customer in the defense sector and represents enormous market potential. We are bringing our autonomous kitchen to places where fresh food was previously not possible – directly to deployment sites worldwide.”

The success in South Korea also marks the starting point for the global expansion of goodBytz. The technology is based on experience with numerous customers in Germany and Austria, is designed for autonomous scalability, and can be used in a wide range of scenarios: from humanitarian missions and large-scale events to remote industrial sites.

“We are proud that the U.S. Army has chosen us as a partner for this implementation. With this, we are showing that food tech and robotics together can make a real contribution to supply security and quality of life,” says Susemihl.
